Wanted: Looking for parts units
Nov 5th, 2009 at 8:26pm

Does anyone have an older receiver they no longer need or care for that they would be interested in parting with?  I am looking for units I can part out. Specifically, I would want silver faced Pioneer SX models, almost anything Sony made between 1970 - 1975, and Marantz stuff from the early years (I have a 2220 receiver I need a power switch and antenna strip for, among other items).

Please let me know if you have something you would part with and how much you need for it.  We can talk about it.

I am flush with parts units at this time. If you still have something you want to find a good home for, I can still be contacted concerning adoption services.

Always interested in:

Pioneer SX-1980
           SX-1250

Marantz units in the 22 series:

           2240 and up

TOTL Kenwood:

KR9600 and similar

Hey SET,

most of what I see in that forum is too rich for my blood!  I already got a 2220 (free),  and a 2240B (about $80) that Catrafters has in his queue to refresh for me. Still, I'm keeping my eyes open.

I like the 22XX series of Marantz products and am pleased that I will  have a Catrafters restored model in my collection. I guess I need to reign in my collection habits somewhat as I already have almost 4 complete systems now (plus extra parts!), and this house is only so big.

Squiddy, I like the early Marantz units too. I have a 2235b which I use for the living room for FM and a CD player - good for Christmas music.

It is excellent shape and all the lights work too. I'd like to give it a run in the big rig, but I'm too lazy to disconnect everything and hook it up.  Tongue

Hey Forch,

  Classic Marantz is great stuff.

If you get wooly, pull the case off and look at your caps - any with the shrink pulling down the sides, or that have goo /glue looking stuff around the base, are going bad.  I am going to try my hand at a recap with the 2220, but the 2240B is going to Tom Williams, known as CatRafters over on AudioKarma. Considered one of, if not the best Marantz restoreer around. For somewhere around $400, your unit gets stripped down to the chassis and reassembled, aligned, and upgraded where necessary and possible. He has a 14 month queue so don't expect any fast turn-around, if you elect to go that route.

They make kits now to replace the original lights with LEDs, which I'm thinking of going with also, in the two I have.

Thanks for the scoop. I haven't opened mine up, so I don't know what kind of shape it is in. I appreciate the tip - I'll keep it for reference. F Cheesyrch
